Small-scale sugar farmers in southern Paraguay created a sweet revolution when they formed the cooperative Manduvira to give them collective power. Through Manduvira the sugar farmers invested in their own fair trade organic processing plant to gain more of the value from their sugarcane. This was a true small farmer revolution that has created change in the community through investment in sustainability initiatives, community healthcare and employment programmes for youth
