Generations of women have, since ancient times, passed on the meaning and symbolism of daily life and rituals to their daughters in the form of the stunning embroidered handcrafts and clothing from the Gujarat region of Western India. In this region of contrasts, where desert meets monsoon, vibrant earthy colours and abhala (mirror) work are juxtaposed with the subtle desert palette and characterise the handcrafted products, rich in naturalistic motifs. The use of abhala mirrors represents the special significance of light reflected on water - important in such arid lands. This 100% cotton cover is handcrafted by artisans working with St Mary's MSK in India.
