This stylish set of three black elephants with their trunks reaching up high is handmade from terracotta. Skilled potters use ingredients such as catechu, mangosteen extracts and charcoal. The clay is glazed with the juice of the mangosteen fruit extract and they are later soaked in this juice and baked in a wood-fired kiln. When they are placed in the kiln, the potter creates smoke and seals the firing chamber to blacken the clay. Hand crafted by skilled artisans working with CORR – The Jute Works, one of our fair trade partners in Bangladesh.
