This set of five kiwiana russian dolls of varying sizes are hand painted as black and white sheep with the smallest being a ball of wool. Making these dolls requires a high level of skill. The smallest figurine which cannot be taken apart is usually made first, then the other pieces are turned on a lathe. Precision is required to ensure the perfect amount of wood is removed from the doll’s top and bottom half to ensure both pieces fit together perfectly. These dolls are also known in Russian as matryoshka dolls, translating to Matriarch. Hand crafted from sustainable wood by skilled artisans working with Equitable Marketing Association (EMA), one of our fair trade partners in India.
For decorative purposes only, this is not a toy.
