This magenta jewellery pouch is embroidered with a floral design and has elements of Abhala mirror work, it closes with a drawstring and is fully lined. The embroidery techniques used are over a thousand years old, they are based on the practises of the Kathiawadi desert nomads and are being kept alive by the Gujarati artisans of St Mary’s, one of our fair trade partners in India.

St Mary’s teaches rural women who have migrated to the city of Ahmedabad, in western India, to use their traditional Kathiawadi style of embroidery and mirror work to generate essential income.
