These lovely magazine baskets are handwoven from kaisa grass wrapped in soft date palm leaf and have inset handles. Hand crafted by artisans working with Valerian Handicrafts, one of our fair trade partners in Bangladesh, whose main production is basketry made from palm leaves and grasses.

Valerian Handicrafts
The women artisans of Valerian come from six villages across rural Bangladesh. They gather to work together in village spaces, sharing and learning together, making intricate and beautiful baskets from natural environmentally friendly resources. These ethnic minority artisans increase their self-worth and reduce discrimination through the generation of income from their traditional skills.
