This stunning drum is handmade from wood, rope and leather and the carvings are inspired by stories from the surrounding villages. Originally from Blitar, East Java, the Jimbee Gendange the drums are best known for their place in the Reog dance which was first started by a small group of teenagers. The show is very dynamic but performances in Indonesia are becoming rare due to the increasing influence of modern entertainment.
