These ornate quadrant bookends are handmade from palewa stone and engraved with an intricate design. Palewa is a common Indian soapstone which has been used for carving for centuries. The high talc content of soapstones such as this make it relatively soft and ideal for carving. Handmade by skilled artisans working with Tara Projects, one of our fair trade partners in India.
Natural stone, colours and pattern may vary.
Tara Projects addresses issues of poverty and powerlessness for grassroots artisans. They provide 1000 artisans with fair trade production and marketing support; and through the provision of schools over 1,000 children and ex-child labourers are now receiving an education.Read more
