This handy set of two bowls are hand woven with stripes of natural and black jute and natural hogla. Jute is a natural vegetable fibre that comes from the skin of the jute plant’s stem. The fibres are spun into strong, coarse threads which are highly versatile. Hogla is thick grass like plant that grows in the rivers and marshlands in southern parts of Bangladesh. Hogla leaves are cut and dried in the sun before artisans’ weave these to create a rope which is then woven into baskets.
