This stunning placemat has been hand woven in Allo, nettle fabric, and finished with a knotted fringe. Allo is a shrub that grows without cultivation all over Nepal and mostly in the hilly and mountainous regions. “Girardinia diversifolia” is it’s scientific name. Nettle fibre is very flexible and it can be used in clothing, bags, mats, floor mats, rope, etc. This fabric is fully bio-degradable. Handmade by skilled artisans in underprivileged communities working with Mahaguthi Craft with a Conscience, one of our fair trade partners in Nepal.
