Respecting and caring for the environment is high on everyone’s agenda. But for us at Trade Aid National office in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, it’s a critical part of our business.
Trade Aid Importers (TAI) are a member of Toitū Envirocare, who are assisting us on our journey developing a robust Environmental Management System (EMS). An EMS is a planned approach to managing environmental impacts, that can lead to improved and beneficial environmental outcomes.  It’s the foundation from which all our environmental and sustainability initiatives are instigated, implemented, and maintained.
Leading this work is the Trade Aid Environment Committee, a bunch of keen staff who work together to identify the significant environmental impacts arising from everything we do at TAI and work to develop long-term plans to prevent or reduce those impacts. This includes everything from packaging to electricity usage, paper wastage to responsible shipping practices. We do this with the help of the Enviromark Programme to mentor and verify our work.
We are thrilled to announce we now have Gold certification and are excited to start work on a range of projects to reduce our environmental impact.
