Vi Cottrell was recently recognised on the New Year honours for business leaders. Each of those honoured have made contributions touching many New Zealanders’ lives.
She was recognised for harnessing the power of business to improve lives, though she said: “I don’t think of myself as a business person really.”
“It was a difficult decision to accept the honour because while it is extremely flattering, I am a part of a larger organisation,” Cottrell said. “I have never been the manager, and it’s success is built on teamwork. It’s awkward to be singled out. On the other hand, it’s nice that TradeAid itself has been recognised.”
