Colombian coffee growers block roads on first day of strike

Here’s a breaking story from Colombia, where coffee farmers are mounting strikes in protest at low prices and high costs which are leaving them, in one farmer’s words, ‘living in misery’.

That these protests are happening in Colombia has special significance for New Zealand; most of the coffee production from that country is relatively generic, of standard quality, widely used throughout the NZ coffee roasting industry.
