  • Thai Tribal Crafts (TTC)

Thai Tribal Crafts aims to support and improve the living standards of the Tribal peoples of northern Thailand through fair trade. These minority groups each have a strong cultural identity which is expressed in part through beautiful handcrafts which can be adapted for export, while still preserving the distinctive traditional skills in needlework, weaving, batik, basketry and jewellery making.  In 2005 Trade Aid was the fifth largest customer outside Thailand, and was able to contribute to the development of TTC’s new IT system with a capacity building grant. Sales during the year increased by a significant 20% reaching their highest point ever and providing at least part time employment for 806 artisans in 50 village groups.
