Warm greetings from the YWCA Craft Centre.
I am very sorry to reply you so late.

We survived through a severe flood only in August and again this Tornado (Sidr) hit us so badly. Especially the southern and coastal part of Bangladesh was severely hit. Most of the houses of these areas have broken and flown away. Many people  lost  their family members.Thousand of people are now living under open sky. They have no food, no shelter and no proper medical facility.

Thanks for your concern for Bangladesh people. Our producers from Barisal, Khulna, Chandpur, and Gopalgong area have been severely affected by this tornado. They have lost about everything.

We do not know how we can help these people at this moment. But we must do something for them we believe.

Dear Vi,
We have descussed in the monthly meeting. After the discussing all the matters we have decided about the Capacity Building fund [provided by NZAID] as you will fund for the year July 2007-2008.

Yes we have many needs for the craft centre. The priority is to think to open another centre at Kaligonj area because many of our producer cannot work anymore for the transport problem. Because it is very expensive and very risky for them to come to the centre for work. So we had to survey in some areas. Then we can see that kaligonj is most suitable area. Because many many needy women, those  who want work. In the meantime we have started one course for 6 weeks training there. We have rented a house.
Another training will be in February, 2008.

Thank you very much for your kind cooperation. We are always grateful to Trade Aid for their continious support to YWCA.

With love and best regards,
Shefali Margaret D' Costa
YWCA.
