Trade Aid - Making a World of Difference
Our Shared Earth

We human beings have inherited the Earth;
We have inherited  the power of the Sun and the Wind;
We have inherited the bounties of food, fruits and vegetables.
We have inherited the beauty of the Moon, the Stars, the birds, the butterflies, the flowers;

We have also inherited the curse of natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis.

We have inherited our ability to smile and laugh;
We have inherited our ability to cherish and  care;
We have inherited passion and the ability to procreate;
We have inherited our ability to wonder,  and  to be rational.

We have also inherited the curse of such passions as anger, envy, fear, greed, and hunger for power

But why oh why do we persist in creating such man made disasters as global warming, droughts, floods and storms ?
Why oh why do we persist in polluting the air which we breathe, the water which we drink, the soil which feeds us?

Why are we unable to heal the man made wounds which cause suffering , pain and death to our brothers,  sisters and children in Afghanistan,  Chechean, Dafur, Lebanon, Mynamar, Pakistan, Palestine, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Sri Lanka, Tibet etc.?

Why oh why is so much time and energy spent on deciding which group of our human family has the right to develop and use  nuclear weapons ?

Why have centuries of civilization and the teachings of so many great religions failed to  motivate us to be non-violent in word and deed ?

Has our greed for  power and  possessions destroyed our ability to love our neighbours, to honour and respect all human beings as our equals?
